Frequently asked questions about vaccination

Are mandatory vaccines free in Morocco?+

Yes. The Ministry of Health's National Immunisation Programme (PNI) provides all vaccines on the mandatory child schedule (BCG, DTC-Polio, Hepatitis B, Measles-Rubella, etc.) free of charge in public health centres and dispensaries.

Where can I have my child vaccinated?+

In all public health centres (dispensaries) free of charge. Or in a private clinic or paediatric practice for a fee (150-400 MAD per shot depending on the vaccine). Bring your child's health record.

What vaccination proof is required for school?+

The health record is required for nursery, kindergarten and primary school enrolment. Measles, rubella, DTC, polio, hepatitis B and BCG must be up to date. Some schools also require the meningitis ACYW vaccine.

I'm travelling, when should I get vaccinated?+

See a travel doctor 4-6 weeks before departure. Some vaccines need multiple doses (hepatitis B: 3 doses over 6 months). Yellow fever must be administered at least 10 days before entering the country. The WHO yellow card must accompany your passport.

Is the COVID vaccine still recommended?+

Yes for at-risk people (65+, immunocompromised, chronic illnesses, pregnant women). Annual boosters are recommended in autumn. Bivalent vaccines target recent variants. Free at public vaccination centres.
