What is the difference between SAMU, fire brigade and SOS Doctors?+
SAMU (141) sends a medicalised ambulance with a doctor for life-threatening emergencies (heart attack, stroke, severe trauma). The fire brigade (15) covers general rescue and accidents. SOS Doctors is a paid private service for a quick home consultation in the evening and at weekends.
Are emergencies free in Morocco?+
In public hospitals and university hospitals, emergencies are accessible to all, even without papers. Costs may be covered by CNOPS/CNSS/AMO if you are a member. Private clinics charge for procedures according to their own rates.
Should I call before going to A&E?+
No, hospital emergency services are accessible without an appointment 24/7. But in case of a life-threatening emergency, it is preferable to call 141 (SAMU), which will send a suitable team and notify the hospital.
What to do in case of snake or scorpion bite?+
Immediately call the Anti-poison Centre (0801 000 180). Do not cut, do not suck the wound. Immobilise the limb, do not give alcohol. Go to the nearest emergency department — most public hospitals stock antivenom serum.
