Opening hours not providedFor some tests, yes: fasting blood glucose or a lipid panel (cholesterol, triglycerides) usually require not eating for 8 to 12 hours before the sample; drinking water is allowed. Many other tests, such as a complete blood count (CBC), do not. Follow the instructions on your prescription and, if in doubt, call the laboratory.
Many laboratories will run tests without a prescription. However, reimbursement by Morocco's compulsory health insurance (AMO: CNOPS, CNSS) requires a medical prescription.
In Morocco, each test has a "B" coefficient set by the official list of medical biology procedures (order no. 1796-03 of 21 July 2005): for example B30 for blood glucose and B100 for glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c). The price is this coefficient multiplied by the value of the letter B. Ask the laboratory for the price before the sample is taken.
For routine tests, results are often ready the same day or the next day; some specialised tests take several days. Many laboratories send results by email or online: ask when your sample is taken.
Yes, many laboratories come to your home, especially for elderly or bedridden people. Sahha can pass your request to a laboratory in your city, which calls you back to set the time and price.
Tests prescribed by a doctor are reimbursed by the AMO on the basis of the national reference rates, with the care form filled in by the laboratory. Some laboratories offer direct billing: ask about it when you call.
