Frequently asked questions

Can I combine CNOPS / CNSS with private insurance?+

Yes, and it is even recommended. Public schemes cover the reference rates (TNR). Private clinics charge 2 to 5 times these rates. Top-up insurance covers the remaining out-of-pocket cost. Reimbursement order: first the mandatory scheme, then the top-up insurance on the difference.

What does CNOPS cover compared with CNSS?+

Both cover consultations, hospitalisation, tests, pharmacy with prescription. CNOPS reimburses better (80 % vs 70 %) and has more extensive direct payment agreements. For major expenses (hospitalisation, optical, dental), CNOPS offers higher annual allowances.

What is an ALD (long-term illness)?+

Official list of 41 chronic diseases (diabetes, cancer, HIV, kidney failure, etc.) covered at 100 % by CNOPS / CNSS. Your doctor submits a file, the fund's medical adviser validates it. The ALD covers consultations, medicines and tests related to the condition.

How to choose top-up insurance?+

Check: the annual cap per procedure (especially dental and optical), the partner care network in your city, direct payment (no advance fees), the waiting period (0 to 6 months), maternity coverage, exclusions (pre-existing). Compare with our Wafir.ma tool.

What if I work abroad (MRE)?+

CNOPS / CNSS only cover care in Morocco. For Moroccans living abroad, take out international health insurance (AXA, April International, GeoBlue) or Moroccan private insurance with an MRE option. Some offer coverage on returns to Morocco.

How much does private insurance cost in Morocco?+

For a young, healthy individual: 150 to 300 MAD/month for a basic plan, 400 to 800 MAD for a comfort plan, 1 000 MAD or more for premium with single room and international network. Family: 600 to 2 500 MAD depending on the plan. Increases with age and medical history.
